The Bloomfield Learning Centre is an assessment and teaching unit for 6-16 + year olds with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. We are the most subsidised and competitive dyslexia teaching unit in London.

We are a small charity in receipt of no Government funding.

Our teaching team of 7 are all highly qualified classroom teachers with further specialist qualifications in teaching children with dyslexia. They are all RSA, Hornsby, OCR level 7 and Sounds-Write trained.

Our assessing team of 5 who work with children from the age of 6 or 7 years. We also offer adult assessments for educational purposes (but not work place assessments).

We assess every child referred to us and offer tuition to all those who are under-achieving, in reading and spelling. Children attend for between one and three hours of individual teaching every week. During the rest of the time, the majority are in mainstream school. Teaching is innovative and up to date.

Our core teaching programme is Sounds-Write, but this is complimented with the use of a number of other multi-sensory phonics programmes.

We also provide help with study skills, essay writing and time management.

Between September 2015 and July 2016, the average increase in Reading Accuracy Age for Bloomfield Learning pupils was 19.2 months. Some pupils made more than 4 years progress!

The cost of lessons is heavily subsidised. Many schools will pay for their pupils to attend. Other lessons are funded by parents and by charitable bursaries.
