OUR PHILOSOPHY

We believe that children with dyslexia are special. With the right help they can all learn to read.

About us

The Bloomfield Learning Centre is an assessment and teaching unit for 6-16 + year olds with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. We are a small charity in receipt of no Government funding.

Charity no. 1016894

Our team are all highly qualified classroom teachers with further specialist qualifications in teaching children with dyslexia. They are all RSA, Hornsby, OCR level 7 and Sounds-Write trained.

We have three part time professional assessors.

We assess every child referred to us and offer tuition to all those who are under-achieving, in reading and spelling. Children attend for between one and three hours of individual teaching every week. During the rest of the time, the majority are in mainstream school.

Teaching is innovative and up to date. Our core teaching programme is Sounds-Write, but this is complimented with the use of a number of other multi-sensory phonics programmes.

We also provide help with study skills, essay writing and time management.

The cost of lessons is heavily subsidised. Many schools pay for their pupils to attend. Other lessons are funded by parents and by charitable bursaries.
